PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN KASSYM-JOMART TOKAYEV HAD A MEETING WITH CHINA FOREIGN MINISTER WANG YI

As articulated by the President, Kazakhstan unequivocally upholds the one-China principle, steadfast in its commitment to this stance, recognizing the imperative of preserving the unity of nations. Emphasizing Kazakhstan’s enduring role as a steadfast ally of China, he reaffirmed firm endorsement of President Xi Jinping’s Global Development Initiative, Global Security Initiative, and Global Civilization Initiative.

According to the Head of State, Kazakhstan intends to maintain close high-level exchanges with China and strengthen the strategic alignment of the Belt and Road Initiative with the construction of the Middle Corridor. (Trans-Caspian International Transport Route), promote more active development of bilateral economic, trade and cultural cooperation, as well as establish closer and more effective interaction with the Chinese side on international issues.

 

During the meeting, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the extremely important role of Chinese diplomacy in world politics. According to him, Chinese initiatives shape the global agenda and make a significant contribution to maintaining international peace and stability. He called China a recognized leader in many areas, including production and export of goods, technological innovation, economic growth, international investment, etc.

 

The Head of State also highly assessed Kazakh-Chinese relations within the framework of international organizations, including the UN, SCO, and CICA.

 

– Kazakhstan has been and remains a reliable partner of China. We are doing everything possible to implement the agreements that were reached earlier. Indeed, our relations and cooperation are directed forward – into the future,” the President said.

 

During the meeting, prospects for further strengthening bilateral cooperation in the trade, economic, energy, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as the possibility of expanding intergovernmental contacts, were discussed.

 

Wang Yi, also a member of the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee, conveyed cordial greetings from Xi Jinping to the President of Kazakhstan. The diplomat noted that China and Kazakhstan are good neighbors, connected by common mountains and rivers, good friends who treat each other as equals, and good partners with common aspirations.

 

China will continue to firmly support Kazakhstan in protecting its independence, sovereignty and territorial integrity, and will support the series of development strategies and important measures put forward by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, and resolutely resist any external forces trying to interfere in the internal affairs of this country, Wang Yi assured.

 

The Chinese side, he continued, highly values Kazakhstan’s strong commitment to the one-China principle, which is especially important given the current situation in the Taiwan Strait.

 

China’s development represents a growing force for world peace, enhances stability and enhances the potential of developing and emerging market countries, Wang Yi said, adding that China’s development and rise will bring new opportunities to other countries, including Kazakhstan.

 

The Chinese diplomat recalled that in 2023, the leaders of the two countries jointly set the goal of building a Chinese-Kazakh community of common destiny, setting a new benchmark, giving new impetus and opening up new prospects for the development of interstate relations.

 

Wang Yi emphasized that as part of the historic process of building a “New Kazakhstan”, China is ready to act as a reliable and long-term partner, supporting the diversification of Kazakhstan’s economic development and promoting cooperation in emerging sectors such as e-commerce, new energy sources and artificial intelligence.

 

China also expects to increase strategic interaction with Kazakhstan within the framework of multilateral structures such as the UN, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, the China-Central Asia cooperation mechanism and the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia, the Chinese Foreign Minister noted, adding that China is glad to see how Kazakhstan plays a more significant role in the international and regional arenas.

 

Minister Wang Yi expressed gratitude to the Head of our state for the hospitality shown on Kazakh soil and conveyed best wishes on behalf of the President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping.

 

At the end of the conversation, the Head of State conveyed warm words of greeting to Chinese leader Xi Jinping and noted that he had high hopes for his upcoming state visit to Astana.
