Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Deputy Prime Minister of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China Liu Guozhong, who arrived in Kazakhstan on an official visit.
In the course of the discussion, deliberations ensued regarding the prevailing status and future trajectory of the strategic partnership between Kazakhstan and China. Particular emphasis was placed on assessing the advancements made by the respective governments of both nations in executing the agreements previously established by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and President Xi Jinping of the People’s Republic of China.
The Head of state noted that Kazakhstan has been and remains a reliable partner of China. According to him, bringing bilateral relations with China to a new qualitative level is the most important priority for our country.
– I would like to note with great satisfaction that the Kazakh-Chinese comprehensive strategic partnership and eternal friendship are continuously developing in an ascending line and are aimed at the future. China is Kazakhstan’s leading trade and economic partner, ranking first in terms of bilateral trade volume. At the end of 2023, this figure reached a record $40 billion. We set the goal of bringing trade turnover to $100 billion. We believe that this figure is quite achievable,” said the President of Kazakhstan.
Liu Guozhong also noted the positive dynamics in the development of cooperation between China and Kazakhstan.
– As a long-time and good friend of the Chinese people, over the years you have made an important contribution to the development of Chinese-Kazakh relations, which is highly appreciated by the Chinese side. I am confident that under your leadership, Kazakhstan will move forward in the development of the state and the building of a powerful and prosperous New Kazakhstan. China and Kazakhstan are good neighbors, reliable partners and very good friends who complement each other, noted Liu Guozhong .
At the convened assembly, the participants deliberated upon avenues for bolstering collaboration across various domains encompassing trade, investment, agriculture, transportation and logistics, energy, and tourism. Matters concerning the advancement of cultural and humanitarian relations were also duly addressed.
