China is not only the initiator, but also an active participant in the creation of a community with a shared future for humanity. To realize this goal, China has taken firm steps and practical actions over the past 10 years, including promoting high-quality construction of the Belt and Road, putting forward the global development initiative, global security initiative and global civilization initiative. The country, together with various parties, is making increasing efforts to achieve sustainable peace, create favorable conditions for global security, increase confidence in common development, promote mutual learning among different civilizations and carry out even more environmental protection activities, while continuing to contribute to the formation communities with a common destiny for humanity.
“One Belt, One Road” Initiative – one of the best practices for creating a community with a common destiny for humanity, is a popular global public a boon and platform for international cooperation provided to the world by China. As of July 2023, more than three-quarters of the world’s countries and over 30 international organizations have signed documents on cooperation with China in the joint construction of the Belt and Road Initiative.
Over the past 10 years, this initiative has gained great momentum, effectively contributing to the development of participating countries, increasing the feeling of satisfaction life and happiness their peoples. In particular, such flagship projects as the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor, China-Laos Railway, high-speed iron road Jakarta-Bandung and the Mombasa-Nairobi railway provide a powerful impetus to local socio- economic development. Over 10 years, a total of about 77,000 freight train trips have been made along China-Europe international rail freight routes, and 7.31 million standard containers have been shipped. China-Europe trains serve as an important bridge for international economic and trade cooperation. Lu Ban’s Workshops helped youth in more than 20 countries participating in the Belt and Road Initiative acquire professional skills. The joint construction of the Belt and Road has already become a “garden of a hundred flowers”, where China shares development opportunities with the world.
Development acts as the material basis for ensuring the security and progress of civilization. China has put forward the global development initiative and has been steadily promoting its implementation, which has contributed to solving development problems and restoring world development. The ultimate goal of this initiative is to accelerate the implementation of the UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, the main requirement is to put people first, the overarching concept is to call for a global partnership based on cohesion, equality, balance and the common good, and the key Actions – Follow an action-oriented approach to promote stronger, greener and healthier global development and build a global partnership for development.
Last year, the High-Level Dialogue on Global Development was held under the chairmanship of China, during which 32 practical measures were proposed to the PRC. To date, half of them have been implemented or the first results have been obtained. There has been a constant increase in the number of Global Development Initiative projects, with over 200 cooperation projects already bearing fruit.
UN Under-Secretary-General Amina Mohammed said strengthening cooperation across the global development initiative is key to achieving shared goals for people and the planet.
Security is a fundamental prerequisite for the development and progress of civilization. China has proposed the Global Security Initiative and is actively promoting its implementation, providing confidence in maintaining and achieving global security. The Global Security Initiative calls for adapting to the profound transformation of the international architecture in the spirit of solidarity, responding to various traditional and non-traditional security challenges and threats through the principle of mutual benefits, as well as embark on a new path to security that involves dialogue instead of confrontation, partnership instead of alliance, and win-win cooperation instead of zero-sum games.
IN flow more for more than 30 years, China has sent over 50 thousand peacekeepers to 20 countries and regions to participate in UN peacekeeping operations; made efforts to resolve conflicts and achieve peace by promoting the restoration of diplomatic relations between Iran and Saudi Arabia, as well as the settlement of other international and regional issues. In addition, the PRC actively participates in international cooperation in areas such as counter-terrorism, public health, digital governance, biosecurity and climate change. China’s actions fully demonstrate the responsibility of a great power to maintain peace and stability in the world.
International experts note that the Global Security Initiative fills gaps in the global security architecture, and China’s successful implementation of this initiative fully demonstrates that China is a defender of world peace and security.
Civilization is the internal support of development and security. China’s proposal and implementation of the global civilization initiative promotes exchanges and mutual learning among different civilizations, and builds an open, inclusive world. The Global Civilization Initiative calls for respect for the diversity of world civilizations, promoting the common values of all humanity, paying attention to the continuity of civilizations and innovation, and strengthening international humanitarian exchanges and cooperation. The initiative also encourages the whole world to increase dialogue between civilizations and promote the progress of human civilization in the spirit of mutual understanding and tolerance.
China is vigorously working to build a global network of inter-civilizational dialogue and cooperation, enrich the content of exchanges and expand channels of cooperation in order to promote mutual understanding and friendship among the people of all countries and give impetus to the formation of a community with a shared future for mankind. For example, the country held the High-Level Dialogue between the Communist Party of China (CCP) and the world’s political parties, the Summit of the Leaders of the CPC and the World’s Political Parties, the Conference on Dialogue among Asian Civilizations and other events. In addition, China is developing various forms of diplomacy, including people’s, city and public diplomacy, and organizing vibrant, rich and colorful festivals of culture, tourism and art.
The future of humanity is bright, but a bright future will not come on its own. To build a community with a shared destiny for humanity, the main thing is confidence and determination, the basis is vision and aspiration, the key is a sense of responsibility and action. China will continue to walk hand in hand with all parties, hold high the banner of the community of the shared future of mankind, and jointly build a clean and beautiful world where sustainable peace, common security, shared prosperity, openness and tolerance reign.
