CHINA IS DEVELOPING AN AUTOPILOTED HIGH-SPEED TRAIN

10.04.2018

March 12, “People’s Daily” online — “To start or stop a train, to increase or slow down the speed, the driver needs to press just one button,” said Zhao Hongwei, a member of the CC of the NPC, chief engineer of the Chinese Railway Research Institute, passing through the “corridor of ministers” on March 3. He also noted that especially for the 2022 Winter Olympics, scientists will develop a high-speed train “Jineng Jingzhang” with an autopilot function.

According to Zhao Hongwei, in addition to autopiloting, a new system of energy saving and environmental protection will operate on the Jineng Jingzhang train, as well as efforts will be made in the use of new materials. At the moment, based on the Fuxing trains, which reach speeds of up to 350 km/h, it is planned to develop a platform with serial production of trains moving at speeds of 250 km/h and 160 km/h, for different operating conditions and under different requirements.

In 2017, the Fuxing train was officially put into operation, making China the manufacturing country of the world’s highest-speed train for commercial use. China owns full ownership of this train and has patented 4,000 types of technologies.
