A meeting was held between the China research Centre (Kazakhstan) and delegates from the People’s Political Consultative Council of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China

On the 9th of November 2023, a momentous gathering was held at the Beijing Palace Hotel Astana. Representatives from the Center for China Studies in Kazakhstan came together with delegates from the People’s Political Consultative Council of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China. This rendezvous stands out as a significant milestone, symbolizing the birth of close bonds and an enriching dialogue between these two nations, fostering a spirit of mutual understanding and collaboration.
The delegation from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region of the People’s Republic of China brought a diverse array of perspectives and backgrounds to the table, creating a dynamic blend of ideas and experiences. Here’s a snapshot of the notable individuals who graced the occasion:
1. Mr. Chen Yong – Chairman of the People’s Political Consultative Council of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
2. Cao Zhibin General Secretary.
3. Ma Bo General Director of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the People’s Political Consultative Council of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
4. Bai Yuzhen Director General of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
5. Sun Jie. Director of the Department of Asian and African Countries. Foreign Affairs Office of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region.
The meeting became a fruitful forum for the exchange of views and experiences in various aspects of Kazakh-Chinese interaction. During the event, delegates discussed the prospects for the development of cultural, educational, trade and economic relations, and also exchanged views on the harmonization of bilateral interests.
Speaking to the guests, Director of the Center for Chinese Studies Gulnar Shaimergenova noted the importance of strengthening friendship and mutual understanding between Kazakhstan and China, especially emphasizing that Kazakhstan and China have extensive prospects for cooperation in various fields, from education to trade and culture.
“China and Kazakhstan are close to each other in terms of landscape, geography and humanities. With a common border of more than 1,700 km and a history of interaction dating back more than 2,000 years, from the ancient “Silk Road” to the “One Belt, One Road,” Kazakhstan and China have a very deep connection, and are also a model of good neighborliness and mutual benefit. Over the past 10 years since the implementation of the Belt and Road Initiative, both countries have deepened the ongoing comprehensive strategic partnership between China and Kazakhstan under the leadership of diplomacy of the Heads of States and strive to create a Chinese-Kazakh community of destiny based on generational friendship, a high degree of mutual trust and mutual solidarity. As the head of the delegation, I visited Kazakhstan, and as I see it today, we have to implement the important consensus of the Heads of States of the two countries, we have to fulfill the assigned tasks,” noted Mr. Chen Yong, Chairman of the People’s Political Consultative Council of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, in his welcoming speech.
At the same time, delegates from the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region expressed their readiness to deepen cooperation with Kazakh companies and emphasized the importance of exchanging experience in management and social and agricultural initiatives.
Particular attention was paid to the development of cultural as well as agricultural ties between the two countries. The parties discussed the possibilities of exploring cultural events, exchanging art exhibitions and organizing cultural programs to deepen mutual understanding and strengthen friendship between the sister cities.
At the end of the meeting, memorable group photographs were taken, and the Chairman of the Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, Mr. Chen Yong, in an official setting, left his wishes in the Book of Wishes of Honored Guests of the Center for Chinese Studies. Questions about further cooperation and exchange of experience in various fields between the parties remain open, but today we can say that the first steps towards bringing the regions closer together have already been taken.
In the afterglow of a memorable gathering at the Beijing Palace Hotel Astana, representatives from both Kazakhstan and China voiced their optimism, declaring that this event would mark a new chapter in the vibrant history of their relations. The shared sentiment is that this meeting, characterized by open dialogue and mutual understanding, will act as a catalyst, propelling the two nations towards a deeper and more meaningful partnership.
