On February 26, 2024, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev visited the East Kazakhstan Technical University named after. D. Serikbaev, where he got acquainted with the activities of the university and the educational Center “Lu Ban Workshop” created on its basis.
The President was informed about the scientific and innovation ecosystem of the higher education institution. S. Rakhmetullina, the Dean of the University, mentioned that the Smart engineering Competence Center was created at the university last year, to develop import-substituting technologies in mechanical engineering and the mining and metallurgical complex.
The head of state was told about plans to create a technological park in the field of medicine, allowing young people to engage in innovative projects. Currently, more than 40 types of medical implants have been developed and are undergoing clinical trials.
Together with the Kazakh-German University, it is planned to open an institute of science and technology in the field of metallurgy and mining.
“Lu Ban Workshop” has two laboratories: “Innovative car designs” and “SMART car technologies”. The uniqueness of the Center lies in the opportunity for students to obtain practical skills and conduct simulation tests of automotive systems. Particular attention is paid to the study of new technologies for the maintenance and diagnostics of electric and hybrid vehicles.
The head of state examined the SMART table, which is an intelligent organization of traffic. The President was also acquainted with educational stands designed to study hybrid cars, electric vehicles and the principles of their charging.
The opening of the “Lu Ban Workshop” in Kazakhstan was initiated by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Chairman Xi Jinping in May 2023 in Xi’an at the Central Asia – China Summit.
As the Head of State was informed, one of the goals of the University is to train highly qualified technical and engineering personnel for the automotive industry of Kazakhstan on the basis of the Lu Ban Workshop.
The President spoke with the students and wished them success. He emphasized that for economic development it is important to increase the number of centers such as the Lu Ban Workshop in the country.
